Setup Steps
Get Authorization Code
Before connecting your email in 3Chat, you must first go to your email service provider’s application to obtain an authorization code for third-party client login.
Please keep the authorization code safe, as it will be required later during the email connection process.
Different email providers offer different methods for obtaining authorization codes. Below are instructions for some common providers.
Outlook
- Log in to the Outlook web version and sign in to your email account.
- Go to Settings, find Forwarding and IMAP, and click to enter.
-
In the POP and IMAP section, check:

-
“Allow devices and apps to use IMAP”
Then click Save.
-
- In 3Chat, go to Channels, click Connect Email, select Microsoft Outlook, and enter your email address.
-
Check whether the logged-in email account matches the one you want to bind:
-
If it does not match, click Sign out in the bottom-right corner.
-
If it matches, click Accept and proceed to step 7.
-
- Return to the 3Chat channel connection page and refresh.
If an unlogged email account appears, delete it and repeat step 4.
- Enter your account password.
Confirm that the email account now matches the one you want to bind, then click Accept.
- You will be redirected back to the 3Chat channel page.
If the email account appears in the list, the setup is successful.

-
Disable AI replies to temporarily stop processing.
-
Enable AI replies again at any time to reactivate the 3Chat agent for handling customer email inquiries.
-
Re-authenticate Email
Re-authentication is required in the following scenarios:
The authorization code has expired.
Third-party login services (IMAP/SMTP) have been disabled in the email provider’s client or web app.
The previously created authorization code has been deleted in the email provider.
3Chat will detect the authorization failure and automatically send an expiration reminder email.
If you still want 3Chat AI to assist with handling email inquiries, click the link in the reminder email to quickly reauthorize.
You can also click Reconnect to jump directly to the mailbox list, locate the email row, and select Re-authenticate.
Enter the newly obtained authorization code and click Confirm.
3Chat will then reactivate the mailbox and continue assisting with customer email inquiries.
